Building a Collaboration Platform for Research Teams
We're developing a collaboration platform with university partners to bring critical thinking to the forefront of research coordination and knowledge transfer.
We’re developing a collaboration platform in partnership with a professor at a leading research university. The goal is straightforward: help research teams coordinate more effectively while keeping critical thinking at the center of their work.
The Problem We’re Addressing
Research collaboration is difficult. Teams are distributed across institutions, disciplines, and time zones. Traditional project management tools track tasks but miss the nuance of academic work—the need to question assumptions, integrate diverse perspectives, and navigate complex institutional requirements.
We’re building something different: a platform that connects project leaders with contributors while emphasizing the reasoning behind decisions, not just the decisions themselves.
Key Capabilities
The platform focuses on:
- Connecting people: Matching contributors with projects based on their skills and research interests
- Structured coordination: Managing the workflows that complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives require
- Accountability and recognition: Tracking contributions so everyone’s work is visible and valued
Where We’re Starting
We’re initially focused on two areas where better collaboration tools can make a real difference:
Research Coordination
Multi-institutional projects often struggle with coordination. Distributed teams need to align on goals, share progress, and manage institutional requirements—all while working under tight deadlines. We’re building tools to make this coordination more transparent and less burdensome.
Knowledge Transfer
Bridging academic research and real-world application is notoriously challenging. The platform helps connect researchers with the people and organizations who can help translate their work into practice, while managing the complexity of partnership discussions and agreements.
Why Critical Thinking Matters
In an era of AI-assisted everything, the ability to think critically about problems has never been more important. We’re designing the platform to support—not replace—human judgment and collaborative reasoning.
This means encouraging teams to question assumptions, consider multiple perspectives, document their reasoning, and learn from both successes and failures.
Current Status
The platform is in active development with our university partners. If you’re interested in learning more or potentially collaborating, reach out to us.
